I borrowed the Bara Barn shawl from the sling library this week, and
am having so much fun with it that I just had to share!
It is a 2.7m wrap (also known as a rebozo or shortie). My daughter
Emma is 19 months old now. We both still love to wrap and try out new things,
so I set myself a challenge today to only use this one carrier, but in as many ways as possible.
So here is what we have come up with so far today…
Nursing in a rebozo hip carry – we also used this for popping to the shops this morning.

Rebozo hip carry
A rebozo back carry – perfect for doing a bit of work around the house with a sleepy toddler! This is a one shouldered back carry with a slip knot. You start with the traditional rebozo hip carry, and just scoot the child around to your back. You need to tighten up a bit more afterwards. It is surprisingly comfortable!

For a longer carry, we did a rucksack tied under the bum. (Known as ruck under bum or RUB). I love this as an alternative to a ruck with a longer wrap, and sometimes it is nice to not have loads of wrap tied around your waist.

Finally, more snuggles and nursing in a hip carry before an afternoon nap.

Oh and the great thing about using a shortie… it doesn’t look bad as a scarf (or a blanket) when it isn’t being used as a sling!

Phew – what a great meet we had today!! So many new faces – it was really fantastic. I don’t have the numbers yet, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that was our busiest meet yet.
As usual, we had a lot of demos – Front Wrap Cross Carry (FWCC) with a woven wrap, Pocket Wrap Cross Carry (PWCC) using a stretchy wrap with a newborn, back carrying with the Ergo, mei tai back carries…. and probably loads that I have forgotten!
There was some interest in learning to use a woven wrap for back carries, so we will try to do more of that next month.
For now though, here are some pictures!

All kinds of carriers!
